Better Manitoba calls for universal access to sports and recreation facilities and programs to support physical well being, mental well being and community connection. Sports and recreation decreases pressure on our healthcare system and reduces the need for policing. It offers safe healthy alternatives for youth, elders and everyone in between.
Goals
- Invest in our community centres, sports facilities and programming throughout Manitoba prioritizing underserved communities and emphasizing swimming and cycling as core physical skills.
- Increase access to programming and facilities in core urban centres and isolated rural communities
- Use sports and recreation as a strategy to create social spaces, role models and pathways to keep youth engaged and out of gangs
